THIS KUL CITY: HERITAGE BATTLE SJI vs VI
We’ve had walks and we’ve had talks. But just last week, we added a new event to the THIS KUL CITY programme- and its a HERITAGE BATTLE!
Johannian Old Boy Dato’ Zahim Albakri and VI Old Boy Chacko Vadaketh battled it out during the THIS KUL CITY: HERITAGE BATTLE SJI vs VI!
As centuries old rivals, St. John’s Institution and Victoria Institution are two of the oldest schools in Kuala Lumpur, with both conferred as “National Heritage” by the government under the National Heritage Act.
During this battle, Chacko & Dato Zahim made their case on their school’s superiority, focusing on categories such as Historical Events, Architecture, Background History and Notable Alumni.
Guests who attended this battle were given colored wristbands to indicate their allegiance- BLUE for Victoria Institution, GREEN for St. John’s Institution and YELLOW for everyone else who’s not picking sides.
The battle was presented in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the evening. Both sessions were won by VI.
The first of its kind, this heritage battle drew in crowds of old boys from both schools, former teachers and headmasters, current students, members of Badan Warisan as well as the general public.
Badan Warisan Malaysia would like to thank Chacko Vadaketh and Dato’ Zahim Albakri for collaborating with us and producing an excellent show! Thank you also to everyone who attended!
